RED are my comments

1.  Wilson-Art on the galley cabinets---is this still the best material
out there?  Ours has been damaged in several places and no one seems to be
able to find a repair kit.  Jennifer prefers the lighter gray color instead
of the darker gray color, if possible, if Wilson-art is still the way to go.

Answer:

The alternative to Wison art we use is Corian , it is expensive but looks amazing . Will cost $ 2430 extra

We would NOT recommend the black as it shows scratches very quickly.  The dishdrainer doesn't fit proper.  It was cut from the spot, it fits, but there isn't enough gap.   There is also no hinge.  What the heck do you do with this heavy piece of corian??

2.  Metal lids instead of plastic for fuel and water fills

Answer: Standard spec.

Changed out to Fuel Stop a Vetus no spill device, $70 /tank.   For charter use the water fills over the sides are inviting the lids to be lost when the little chain breaks.

3.Overboard vents for water tanks

Answer: Standard spec.

Not done, overflows to the bilge, the keel breathers are set below the bow tank so it siphons off the water.

4. We would like to have a metal plate added under the bow walkway between the trampolines, at least for the length of the anchor.  Somehow the underside of the walkway has been damaged from the anchor being brought up too quickly or at an odd angle.  The result is that the top surface of the walkway has popped up at the edge creating a trip hazard.

Answer: The bow walkway has been re-designed this wont happen on the new one.

This is a great setup now.   The bridle is great.   I would recommend also something similar for a mooring bridle for the boats going to BVI as a supplement to the anchor bridle.

5.  Delta Quickset Anchor
Answer: We fit a CQR no Delta anchors here available.

Reply – CQR is fine

6.Lewmar ports--the other brand (which we forgot to write down) which Aristo-cat had forward facing in the salon leak.  We don't need ports in the forward salon windows, just multiple overhead.

Answer: Lewmar prts is standard. We don’t fit port holes in saloon windows any more, only two hatches aft in the coach roof. An extra two hatches with stainless steal guard rails is $ 1157’

Reply – OK for two overhead ports

Looks good and allows good airflow, but the fan in the corner really helps.

7. 225 feet of anchor chain

Answer: $ 143 extra.

Reply OK

# 7  On that length of chain we have to make it 8mm

Also we added a chain counter/remote at the helm, which had not arrived, it should be installed soon.  I ran the rest of the wiring.

8.We would like to somehow have the fuel tanks sturdier or "beefed up" more then previously.  There are cracks all over the tops and sides of the tank areas and diesel is somehow leaking down the wall of the forward starboard cabin, this is not a fitting.  We need to be positive this will not happen.  With anchoring, a lot of chain gets dumped on these often.
Answer: Has been changed already.

9. Move emergency fuel shut-offs to a more accessible location.  With the chain the little compartments are basically crushed.

Answer: Has been changed already.

10. Deck, anchor well, etc. latches---as we have talked about before, we would like to have flat, flush, "ABI turning lock lift handles" so that bare (often drunken) feet aren't stepping on latches.  If this isn't possible, we may need to consider having no latches in the cockpit floor storage areas,
but need to avoid the big gaps like the Miami boat had that would be traps for bare toes.   This would also go with all the anchor well latches also.

Answer: We are looking into the latches will report back. No latches on cockpit floor is a good option . The gaps in the floor has been addressed.

Reply – Nothing on the cockpit floor is fine. Actually no latches is fine anywhere, but we imagine Gary will need them secured for delivery.

We ended up with no latches in the cockpit, this is best.

11.  Redundant item - deleted

12. Mount mid-ship cleats on the side of the boat, not on the deck.
Answer: The cleats will be a $ 100 each

These look great and needed for some of our short docks in BVI

13. Spinlock XT brakes on mast AND deck--we have had MAJOR problems with the handles ripping off and bending on the Antel ones due to jib sheets
fouling.  Antel parts can't be found in the islands.

Spinlocks were same price. Added one on starboard side for the port jib sheet so you can single hand from the helm.   This works great, but there needs to be a padeye on the coach roof to prevent chafe.

On this item, why the heck are the main sheet and jib sheets the same color.   Can get confusing for novice - "no the other blue line".    The old boat, they were all yellow.    This is an easy fix from the beginning.

14. We would like to order SUPER re-inforced stitching on the stack-pack--it takes a lot of abuse and ours on Aristo-Cat is ripped in several places and needs to be replaced after 2.5 years.

Answer: Will be done.

15. We need to talk about a way to better attach the props.  We have lost two from Aristo-Cat.   The alan screws can just back out.  We have lost 2 in 2.5 years.

Answer: We suggest to change the anodes more often it will stop the parts from eroding.

16.  We need to get more information about the non-opening window material  in the salon.  Aristo-cat's have become so scratched that the are actually difficult to see out of.  Have they been improperly cleaned or do we need to look at using some other material?

Answer: Clip on screens from Dupont works well $ 340 each.

Reply - NO

17.  Most recent model of Autohelm/wind/depth by Raytheon
Answer: ST 6000.

18. 27 hp Yanmars with engine meters
Answer: Standard.

Great improvement over the old boat

19.  A wider helm seat (enough for two fat Americans!)  We measured and estimated about 97 centimeters.  We need the helm seat design that has two holes so it leans back far enough.  We want the rotating helm seat with padding on bottom and back to be done in Captain's Navy.

Answer: It will be $ 342.

Reply yes, but is $342 the cost of the upgrade or a new seat?
We love the wider seat but I should have made it about 94cm so it could rotate 360 degrees.  I did not allow for the back to swing around without hitting the wheel.

Helm seat didn't have a second set of holes to adjust the back rest to a more comfortable position - for a fat American.

20.  Garmin GPS mounted at the helm.  We will need to research the model more when we get home.
Answer: Let us know.

Reply Garmin 162 – we could ship, our cost here is about $379 + install
# 20 Garmin 162 Price R 4260.00 Fitting , wiring and external aerial R 2100

I traveled over with one I bought in the states.   Should have bought a better model the 162 required bluecharts to be downloaded rather than plugged in via a chip.

21.  We need to find a way to make the cockpit cushions more watertight.  How about double wrapping them before being upholstered?  We do not want any snaps or rivets or attachment points.  Captain's Navy sunbrella for fabric.

We also added a backrest in the corner of the cockpit
Answer: Will be done.

22.  Winch handle holders under lip in cockpit, not on sides like the
Miami boat.

Answer: Will be done.

Not done, winch handles are set out.   They are convenient, but not good for double winch handles as the handles stick out too far.

23.  We would like a different door on the propane locker.  The one we have looks cheap because the plastic edge pieces fall off and it doesn't look good.

Answer: Has been changed already.
Much better
24.  We have questions about the aft cabin ports and how to leave them open in the rain or at least not get the berth wet when they are reopened after a rain.

Answer: We are looking at putting a GRP cover over it . Will advice.

Mr. Plastic near the factory did the eyebrows, they look good, only about 85% effective.   I think I mounted them about 1.5 cm too high over the window.   These also don't have the sharp edges the old ones had.   Stephen needs to enlighten you about how much rain we get in a very short time period.

25.  Please use wood trim strips at all joints and where cracks are
likely!

Answer: Has been changed already.

Only done at the nav station module and the strip is too narrow.

26.  A nice fan in the galley, mounted in the corner to keep the cook cool without blowing out the burners.  We have to cook with the overhead port shut or it blows out the burners :

Answer: Yes we can fit a fan at $ 700

Corrected price at $142 – per Jannie on 8/12

The Hella fan is the same one that we fit.

Reply – What type of fans are we talking about, do you have a spec? Obviously there is fan + wiring + install. We just wonder if we can source fans cheaper.

# 26 Hella White fan 8EV003361022, 2 speed, 150x188x195x95mm, 6.5 w/ph

I flew over with 10 fans these work great!!!!!!!

27.  Jennifer isn't sure where to have you put the microwave spot.
Suggestions?  We don't want to lose the dish drainer, though.

Answer: We moved the Microwave to the right of the zink, dish drainer stays.

The photo on the left the micro sits in the left-hand side above the dry rack next to the plate rack. Note the sliding doors for the dig plates.

The photo on the right is an alternative arrange mend with the micro on the right of the plate rack. The plate rack is smaller with this configuration but there is two extra lockers .

We went with the one on the left and stack the toaster on top of the microwave.  Had to be specific on the width as the width was going to be too short for a fat American microwave.   I don't remember the measurement.

28.  We get a divot on the sugar scoop from the end of the swim ladder.
Any ideas?
Answer: Has been changed already.

The ladder setup was changed, but you still get the divot.  Needs a rubber wrap around the bar on the ladder.   Also need protection where it rests against the sugar scoop when it is out of the water.  We are getting a rust spot about 1cm in diameter.

29. Measurements for cut-outs for dish holder cubby-holes to fit our huge
American plates  (note that this relates to the HUGE helm seat necessary!)
28 cm and 23 cm.  Jennifer would prefer the cut-out cubby-holes to a sliding
door for dish storage.

Answer: It has been changed to sliding doors the plates should fit.

The sliding doors should have finger holes at each end.   The big dishes did fit.

30. We like the bottle storage beside the beer cooler, but air conditioning and the beer cooler compressor take priority.

Answer: Has been changed already and there is storage next to the cooler.

31.  In the galley, we would like to have three drawers instead of two.

Answer: Will cost $ 285

Really helps, but the drawers are not as deep as the old ones you you have more dead space.   A standard silverware tray won't fit into the drawers.

32.  How expensive would it be to add a shelf inside the cabinet on the end of the galley?  I think that is the cabinet you sometimes use as a  garbage.  We use it to store bread without preservatives out of the
sunlight, so having a shelf to keep the loaves of bread from getting smashed would be nice.

Answer: Will cost $ 71

We also added a sliding drawer under the oven.  Eliminated a huge dead spot

33.  The edges of the beer cooler lid are very chipped.  Could  a rubber gasket be added?  Other ideas?  And, we DO NOT want a hinge on the beer
cooler lid.  We just want it so that it can be lifted completely off.

Answer: The design has been changed, it is presently hinged but it can be left out.
We also added a light in here.   We have a condensation issue on the side by the cushions.   The lid needs to be able to stay up for loading and cleaning.   It is also creating a divot on the gelcoat above where it hits.

34.  We must have a bulletproof drain system on the beer cooler.  We have had leaking issued which have caused the new wearite to pop up.
Answer: Has been changed already.

Didn't really get to test the drain, but it appears good.
35.  Add mirrors on the backs of cabin doors.

Answer: Will cost $ 71 per door

Reply – no, we assume you were talking full length mirrors, we had small ones in mind.

36.  The stippling is peeling at the corner joint in the galley.  Any ideas to prevent this problem on Aristo-Cat II?
Answer: Has been changed already.

37.  We would like to have the stair joints reinforced on both sides. They have both been cracked and repaired, but do not look good at all.

Answer: Has been changed already.

38.  Thicker mattresses, so that your shins don't get banged up trying to get in and out from the bulkheads.

Answer: The bulkhead has been cut lower.

39.  We like having 3 shelves in the port hall closet if possible.

Answer: Standard.

Not done

40.  The mirrors in the heads are rusting around the edges from the backsides.  Is there a different grade of mirror or might trimming in the mirrors help?

Answer: We will varnish them on the back it should help.

No mirrors came across on the boat

41.  NO shelfs under the head sinks.  We understand the current specs is to have the toilet paper holder enclosed in the door.
Answer: Ok no shelf. The toilet holder are extra $ 85

Reply – we will advise. Perhaps if the shelves are better than our existing ones we should stick with shelves

Tiolet roll holder in door is great, new shelves are great also.

42.  Is it possible to raise the door clearances?  Even lengthening the doorways by an inch or two would help Mike keep from banging his head so often.  You know, he doesn't have much hair on top for cushioning!  :)

Answer: Standard. Been increased 100mm

43. Change the bow water tank shut off valve where it is easier to get to and easier to turn--smaller hose?
Answer: Can move valve more aft.
This is now next to the shut off for the main tank, better location

44.  Cleat on sugar scoop (inboard) for dinghy both port and starboard.

Answer: $ 85 each

Reply – To clarify we want full sized cleats – so we assume the price will go to $100 each

These are great!

45.  Protection of some type around the ends of the sugar scoops to protect from damage due to the towing eye on the dinghys.  Rub rail??

Answer: Transom has been reinforced. We will look at some white nylon to fit for protection

Eye still hits.   Initially people almost fall off the end since they eye doesn't show the slope.   We also have water pooling on the sugarscoop as they are not sloped to the stern.   This area is going to be discolored real fast.
46.  Access to storage behind the settee cushions instead of in the starboard hallway.
Answer: Standard.

47.  What color of wood trim will be used?  Are there options?  Big cost differences?

Answer: Maple is standard, cherry is 25% more.

Reply - Maple

48.  Some type of wooden shower curtain rod in the heads so that the door doesn't get wet when showering, thus dripping in the hallway when opened
after the shower.

Answer: Will investigate.

Stainless shower curtain rod is great.  The interior trim of the door should not be wood.

49.  We have a lot of cracks in both heads.  How can we keep this from being a problem on Aristo-Cat II?

Answer: cracks are standard. PS It’s been strengthened already.

50.  No toothbrush holder/cup is necessary in the heads.  No one in the charter business uses them, anyway.

Answer: Done

51.  2 fans on the aft end of each cabin.  Two lights also on each side of the berth.

Answer: Fans are $ 142 each Lights are standard.

Reply we need to think about the fans, what would the cost be to just run the wiring and we can provide fans in Tortola?
Found some great lights in SA that don’t look cheap, but aren’t expensive

52.  Wilson-Art on both sides of nav-station lift-up storage area.

Answer: $ 571

Went with corian, looks great

53.  We need to have a fix to the problem of condensation from the primary refrigeration compressor dripping onto its wood mounting.  We need some type of drain system.

Answer: Done

The new fridge is a lot smaller than the old.   The old fridge had a separate compressor so you had more interior volume. We removed the stupid latch on the door also.

54.  No steps into the berths.  (we saw this on an IS that was non-Fortuna finished, and did NOT like it)

Answer: Done

55.  Full length steps from saloon down to hallways on both sides.  We saw the non-Fortuna IS that had two of the steps narrower than the rest.

Answer: Done

We have the 3/4 length steps.

56.  Add a door on the aft ends of the forward berths for better water tank valve access?  Can this be made to look nice (we saw some that were very industrial looking).

Answer: Can move valve more aft.

Not needed since water valve was moved

57.  Locations for 110v plugs:  2 in galley Not overhead, one in each of the other 3 saloon corners, 1 in each cabin

Answer: Standard are 1 in galley , 1 in Saloon, 1 at Nav station extra pugs is $ 85

Reply – are the plugs one or two receptacles each?
I overnighted the plugs, they are $50 each in SA and $7 here plus $50 shipping.
58.  Inverter - What is the price difference in inverter strengths?

Answer: Will quote.

Reply – probably a Freedom 20 should be fine. I assume the boat comes with 110v shore power?

110v shore power standard. Freedom 20 R 12 000 installed .

We had salt water exposure to the inverter and A/C from the openings for the fuel lines from the anchor well.   We are concerned about the long term life of the units.  Gary sealed the hole.
59.  Doors to cover forward storage compartments from forward cabins.  (Instead of just big "holes")  Also, the floor/shelf needs to be much stronger, as we use it to store our luggage.

Answer: Will quote.

These look great and dress the boat up a lot

60.  Interior saloon upholstery---asymmetrical pattern, prefer blue hues, if possible, NOT TAPESTRY--we would also like to buy extra yards of fabric.
Stain hiding is key, as you know.  Aristo-Cat's fabric still looks great after lots of abuse!

Answer: Will send some samples.

61.  We would like to have a complete wiring and plumbing schematic when the boat is complete.

Answer: Standard.

I love the new book, would love to have the CD version so I can make changes.

62.  We need sturdier reading lights in the cabins.  We have had to replace nearly all of the original ones---they just weren't tough enough.

Answer: Standard.

63. We prefer the cabin set-up with the original lay-out with the shorter bench in the cabin and the closet with shelves (the one aft of the head) in the hallway.  We sleep port aft and like having that closet with shelves in
the hall.  We use the closet in our room to store hanging clothes.  The starboard side closet stores life jackets, safety equip, etc.

Answer:

64.  We don't need screens on the windows--they get removed 1st thing and never used again.

Answer: Done

65.  What about moving the engine starting batteries under the tiny bench in the aft cabins?
Answer: This is standard position , they have been secured better.

Batteries are still behind the engines.   This is a lot of long term storage to lose

66.  Price for cabinets above the berths (like Alan's boat)

Answer: $ 285 each

Should have done

67.  We use a bungee cord to secure a kitchen trash can just inside the companionway in front of the two storage cubby-holes.  Is there a way to
make this look nicer and still have easy trash access?  We usually generate a full trash can of trash every day.  What about the tilt out design like we
saw on a R & C 4500?  Pros/cons??  What about a cabinet with easy and BIG top and side access?

Answer: We can fit the a trash can at the two storage cubby-holes it will be a door that hinge at the bottom and opens on a angle with the bin in there. $ 214 extra.

Reply, can this be designed to have a bottom swing out to empty and a top to swing in? We don’t want to have to pull the can out every time we put trash in. What size can do you think could fit in this?
We ended up coming up with a really cool design for this. Just inside the door, but it could also go at the end of the island.

68.  No access to head cabinet from hallway (we saw this on Ian McNee's boat and didn't like it)

Answer: Done

69.  Water pump and tank valves under galley sink.  We would like to have a back-up water pump that can be easily switched to with the flick of a
switch and turning of a valve to minimize chase call expense.

Answer: $ 857

Reply – just do a backup under the head sink – just make sure a fat American can get to it to replace easily.

Ended up with a backup under the port head sink with a control switch under the nav station.  Great setup

70. Holding tanks both sides-  15 gallon

Answer: Standard.

Reply I think I misquoted our size, what ever is the largest standard size is what we want

# 70 15 gallons.

25 liter

71.  Waterline raised 4 inches for BVI growth
Answer: Standard.

Done correctly!

72.  A pair of Jabsco electric macerating toilets with a pair of Lectra/Sans.  In BVI all discharges are overboard, so we want to minimize untreated waste.
Answer: Will investigate.

Reply – we will never have pump outs in BVI so having a politically correct way of treating raw sewage is important, we are really never far enough offshore to properly discharge from holding tanks. In the states the letrasans are about $750 + install

http://www.raritaneng.com/products/waste_treatment/lectrasan.html

Peggy Hall is the person at Raritan who answered my questions:
peghall@sbcglobal.net

Went with 2 Techna Silence electric heads and 2 Letrasans.   The plumbing for this is great.   But the closet needs to be vented overboard.

One letrasan lid was cracked, needless to say the closet was pretty nasty when it arrived in St Lucia.  The plumbing was set to go to Letrasan and not overboard, but since the letrasan wasn't on it caused the lid to crack or a seal to blow.   Raritan is sending a new lid, we will know more later when we disassemble.

73.  Floors--wearite in halls and main salon.  Wearite on stairs also with some type non-skid that isn't too tough on bare feet.  *******Make SURE that EVERYTHING is sealed EXTREMELY well.  Please epoxy the EDGES, too.  We have
people in and out of the water many times each day dripping all over our boat.  We have constant water exposure on the floors.  Extra sealant around all edges and joints to prevent water penetration.

Answer: Standard in saloon, hulls extra, steps extra Total $ 1000

There was a lot of residual glue and some gaps in the floors.

74.  Also, the base of our saloon table is getting water damaged, probably from mopping.  What about putting a piece of wearite around the table base??

Answer: Problem has been rectified

75.  Please put several extra coats of polyurethane on the saloon tabletop.  It is spilled on nearly daily!  Also, please make sure there is an easy way to sweep crumbs off the tabletop (not a solid raised edge all
the way around)

Answer: Standard.

The spot to sweep crumbs off is pretty tiny, it should have one at each end.   Seams on the table top look pretty bad.

76.  Beer cooler--should we consider making this a freezer unit rather than a refigerator unit?  We don't want to freeze the beers, but we buy at least a bag of ice a day (at $5 per bag!) to keep the beer cold with our current unit.  The box needs MAXIMUM insulation possible.  The outside temp is often 90 degrees F and cooling is difficult.  We want a water cooled unit rather than an air cooled unit, because at 90F the air never gets cool enough!

Also, put the drain in the corner so that it doesn't get pushed down and leak--leaks have been a major problem.  We need to make this drain BOMB
proof where it will not leak!!!!!

Answer: Freezer unit is $ 1429 and will make sure it does not leak.

Works great!!!!   But just the condensation issue.

77.  6 volt Trojan batteries in series rather than 12v.  Extra batteries for heavy amp use.

Answer: advice agents it rather fit extra batteries.

Reply lets both research this. Many people think this is better as to replace the batteries it is cheaper and easier.

Went with 12v

78.  SQUARE DEEP SINKS IN THE GALLEY!!!!!!!!!!!  I HATE ROUND SINKS!!!!!

Answer: Standard.

79.  Add a low amp light over the sinks and the cooktop in the galley for doing dishes in the dark.  We never use the halogens because they drain our
batteries too quickly.

Found out they had the wrong size bulbs, 50w not 10w.   Also added dimmers

80.  Redundant - deleted item

81.  Add cabinets in any dead spaces.

Answer: Spice racks extra.

Reply No

The galley pantry is now about 6-8cm less deep than it was.   Really cuts out a lot of space.   Should probably have added a third shelf.

82.  We would like to have the port over the stovetop be opening.  Is there a manageable way to do this so cooking exhaust can escape without
blowing out the burners?
Answer: Port lights $ 428 each

Lewmar 40, works great

83.  Some brand other than SMEV cooktop.  SMEV oven is ok, but cooktop must be replaced all at once rather than one side at at time since the screws on the burners cannot be removed.

Answer: will advice.

Reply – We like the Smev, but perhaps your supplier can determine a solution to the screws on the burners becoming permanently attached? We would want extra burners in the spare parts pile.

Solution was to put an anti-seize on the screws. Will have to be repeated every 2 months.

84.  Non-opening ports on port side of galley and matching spot on starboard side.  These get ripped when they fouled on the jib sheets, so we never open them anyway.

Answer: Will investigate.

Reply – we were just thinking of the same glass that is on the sides now. As ports are expensive, if we don’t do them, does it save any money?

Went with opening ports as non opening are more expensive

85.  Add a fan in the forward corner starboard side of the saloon.

Answer: $ 142

This helps airflow a lot

86.  12V outlets at nav station and at helm

Answer: $ 28

Reply - Yes

87.  ICOM 402 VHF with cockpit remote microphone

$ 428 extra

Reply – Ouch, any cheaper alternative for a remote mic, DSC is not important, but remote at helm is.

I flew over with this.  Having the VHF at the helm is great

88.  Link 2000 monitor w/ inverter

Answer: Will advice.

Reply – what is normal? Our previous boat had the Heart Link 2000, should we do the 2000r if we are going with larger alternators?

89.  Alternators larger than 55s.

Answer: 150’s $ 1428 each.

150amp MARINE 1x1/2" ALTERNATOR                                                                               R3948.80

    ALTERNATOR DUAL PULLEY                                                                                            R  988.80

ALTERNATOR BRACKET TO FIT 150amp ALTERNATOR TO 27hp YANMAR ENGINE   R2030.00

    WIRING AND INSTALLATION                                                                                        R 1879.00

                                                                                                                    TOTAL             R 8845.00   $ 1263

That is at cost direct from the supplier.

Reply – Ouch Will advise

Did this, the 55s aren’t enough , so we will have the 55s for starting and 124s for house.

Lost all 4 alternator belts on delivery.   Inproper alignment or too much heat or ????

90.  Wired for solar panels to be added aft--we would like to add solar--is there a good producer in SA?

Answer: We can quote on making a frame and the wiring , the solar panel is siemens and are imported from Germany will be cheaper at your end.

Reply quote the wiring only as we might get another type of panels. Assuming wiring is pretty standard

Added 4 75w panels, works great, but I should have done 100

91.  Racor filters on the engines.

Answer: Standard.

92.  We do not want the set-up we have seen on the new boats in the TWY fleet for raising
the dinghy.  We have our own add-on davit system that we hang from the eyes on the bimini.

Answer: Good

93.  Maximum UV resistant fabric for sails--high quality Dacron challenge premium cloth by Quantum.  Also, please send EXACT sail measurements for
future sail replacement simplification.

Answer: Standard.

94.  Seal all bedding with plastic sheeting like the cockpit cushions.  People are stupid and leave their hatches open  when sailing and the mattresses take forever to dry!

The mattresses are a bit crinkly when you move, but as even the delivery crew got the berths wet this has been great.  Just wipe up the water.
Answer: Standard.

95.  Metal sail slugs for the trampolines.

Answer: Will quote on brass slides.

Bronze R 95

Reply – Yes - Source Quantom had these last year at there Cape Town loft about 50R each

Stainless steel hooks ,rubberized at sliding section as done on the moorings boats R 14   These do make some noise in the wind.

I will courier you the a sample of the trampoline hook as well as some fabric samples, please let me have your address.

These need to be standard!!!

96.  Move windlass back a couple of inches so chain doesn't pile up when being brought in.

Answer: Standard.

Not done, chain still binds

97.  LED navigation lights (use less energy)    www.hellamarine.com

Answer: Cant do.

Reply – let us know any change here

Didn’t find any for the size boat

98.  Boarding gate on both port and starboard

Answer: $ 571

Reply Will advise
Didn't really need

99.  Water and fuel tank gauges.

Answer: $ 585

The gauges were not calibrated before the boat left SA.  I have been able to calibrate the bow tanks, but not the keel.   The fuel tanks will probably never be low enough to calibrate.

100.  Buying the 1st boat was SO much easier when we didn't know anything!!!

Answer: wait until you get to your filth boat !!

Reply this would be a whole lot easier if we actually had money to do what we really want

101.  Deleted - redundant
102.  All USCG spec. fuel lines and waste lines

Answer: Standard

103.  (see change below) Hot and cold water on port side sugar scoop, add a shower hose to
the starboard side, but it doesn't need to be temp. specific.

Answer: $ 521

Reply – this seems steep since the spec normally had cold on one side. Last year Alan thought it would be about 890R to add hot to one side. Please confirm number
Let’s make this:

103a Hot and cold on starboard

103b Cold only on port

103 best price for complete unit plumed in R 2975

Had a Whale hot/cold.  Hot and cold were plumbed reversed - no big deal, but another item that wasn't checked.  One valve has already broken.   So perhaps another vendor.   But it is great having water on both sides.

104.  Cockpit lights by the table and on the end of the bimini.
Answer: Standard
Also did a red light, but it was not wired separately so it can only come on when the white lights are on.

105.  White LED courtesy lights on the sugar scoops.

Answer: $ 35 each

These are awesome!   They are actually a blue tint

106.  Something comprable to Harken's Battcar system for the main.  We don't like the sail slugs--too hard to raise the main.

Answer: Fredricson $ 4285

Went with a Fracol system, Alan has it on his boat and thinks it is the best.  But the main is still a bitch to raise.

107.  Fuel vents outside rather than in anchor wells.

Answer: Standard
Can't recall if this was done or not
108.  Cockpit Speakers:  Pioneer MR-165 --they have a hard face
Answer: will try and source some here .

I flew over with these, but they were not put on the boat????   These weren't cheap

109. Line cutters for the sail drives?

Answer: $ 500 Yanmar don’t recommend the use of it.

Reply – NO, it was just an idea

110.  No carpet anywhere on the boat.

Answer: Done

111.  Larger holes for water to drain from any compartment to the bilges.  Ours get clogged very quickly.  Bow storage MUST have bilge drain.  (Remind us and we'll tell you that story sometime!)

Answer: Standard

Did a separate engine room bilge.  Still no way to drain the rudder compartment.   We still get salt water in the rudder compartment.

112.  Inspection ports for water tanks in accessible places so they can actually be used.  Ours were also never sealed well, blow off regularly, and have caused many problems.

Answer: Standard
Appears to be done much better.
113.  Spare bilge pump built in as a back-up system that can be switched to easily.

Answer: Manual valve $ 143

Reply we might not have been clear. We don’t want a manual bilge pump beyond what is standard, but a backup bilge pump that can be activated by a switch. This is something that the charter company suggested.
leectric Rule 500 bulge pump with long pipe and 12v extension R 800

Spare pump is by the engine

114.  What about putting some type of gutter over the main salon entrance, but NOT a dodger.  Water flips into the main salon when it rains.  We would like to be able to leave the door open in the rain, as 8 people in the tropics makes for a steamy saloon in the rain very quickly.

Answer: Standard

No change here, water still comes into main salon when the door is open.  It rains a lot in the tropics and when aboard you need to be able to leave the door open for air.
115.  Some type of guttering over the aft ports.  We had something made locally, but I think something from the factory would be a nice addition for all the boats.

Answer: will investigate.

116.  Drain holes in all the cockpit lockers.

Answer: Standard

Not done

117.  Deck lights under the spreaders--objective is more light than deck/steaming combo.

Answer: Will quote

Sparcraft had a great option.

118.  Does the boat come with a spinnaker or it the delivery spinnaker
Fortuna's?

Answer: No spinnaker

119.  Dockside air conditioning=== one unit for saloon or add a 2nd for
cabins?

Answer: Needs two units , can make provision for it, will be cheaper to fit in USA.

Reply – How would you make provisions for it? We just need to take the heat off the main salon, so could you do one unit? Basically as delivery is to Tortola, we don’t have a good source.
We will fit vents, ducting and conduting . The unit fits under saloon seat

Greg at CruiseBoats SA had this idea.   Went with one A/C unit dockside and a switch to change the venting from salon to cabins.  Works well.
120.  Engine exhaust hoses with a loop so sea water doesn't backfill--this is an issue Bryan Cleveland had.

Answer: Problem has been addressed

Still had the problem had two Hydrolocks on the port engine.  Solution, larger Vetus water lock

121.  All overhead ports opening forward.

Answer: Standard

122.  Setup for rain water capture.

Answer: Plumbing will cost $ 650

Didn't do, should have

123.  We need to consider ordering a lot of spare parts to be sent over with the boat--it should be cheaper than getting them later.  Extra sink
nozzle sprayers, closet latches, hinges, lightbulbs for the LED lights, etc.

Answer: Good Idea

Nothing came over

124.  ALL HINGES MUST BE backed by nuts so they don't work loose.

Answer: Ok.

Anchor well doors are already loose.  They need lock washers and nylon nuts

125.  Interlux 2000E barrier coat and Micron 66 Biocide.  NO TBT antifouling due to legislation.  It looks like an affidavidt that no TBT was
used may be required.  We are very warm water vs. your cold water.

Answer: Manufactured by Int. Paints

126.  We would like to order an extra set of cove stripes and sheer stripes.  and any logos that our clients are likely to bugger.  Also, no dolphins on the bow as Horizon will put their logo there.

Answer: Will cost $ 1000 to remove dolphins

Reply – If we add a bunch of dolphins will the price drop?

No extra striping came across

127.  Is it possible to get American fittings for the propane tank?  Refilling is difficult as the SA one can't be swapped out for a full American one.

Answer: No USA fittings here.

128.   How expensive would it be to add a grounding plate for future SSB installation?

Answer: $ 357

Reply – reluctant no

129.  Marine grade CD player

Answer: Will advice

I had to fly over with one.

130.  We would like the saloon table and seating to be left at their original height, not raised.  Seeing out the windows isn't a big deal where we are.

Answer: OK

It was raised, feet can't touch the floor.

131.  Wiring for radar for future addition

Answer: $ 285

Reply – Since there is just a snowballs chance in hell that we could ever afford radar we should nix this one.

132.  I do like having the cabinet shelved storage in the saloon table!

Answer: Standard
133.  One case of Amarula and 2 IS 40 hats.

Answer: Standard

Got the hats, crew must have drank the Amarula

134 – Velcro closures on all cockpit and berth cushions. The zippers corrode quickly

 Answer : Done

135 We would like clarification as to what equipment will be aboard when the boat leaves Cape Town.

 Answer : Attached

136 Cabinet doors – maple doors are fine. Full doors on the lockers is preferred, the lattice ones can be knocked in by careless people and would be tough to replace. Exception is under the salon table we would like the lattice and any locker that required ventilation.

Answer : Done

137  Shelf in Galley pot storage

Glad we added this

139  Drink holders

These are awesome and the envy of all.

145 Fishing rod holders

these are worthless, I thought they would be welded to the stainless frame.  They are to be bolted to the deck, came in a box

Other suggestions.  added 1/23/04

With the swim ladder there needs to be a handle closer to grab onto to pull yourself up.

Two finger holes in any sliding doors

Float switch in the shower sump needs to be set lower so it drains completely.   The pump needs to have a backflow preventer so the last bit of draining water doesn't flow back into the shower pan.   To prevent back flow to the bilge and shower pan a Whale Non-Return Valve must be installed.   http://www.whale.ltd.uk/marine/product_list/9/59/

Lights shouldn't be behind doors in the cabin.
